Dragon Ball is a popular anime, but it has repeatedly created details that have fans controversial, or even completely let them down.
Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball has kept audiences entertained for nearly 40 years, and it has also inspired countless shonen series that have followed. Dragon Ball hasn’t changed too much since the first part, but the characters of the series have now gained godly powers.
Dragon Ball’s new enemies and statuses are enough to keep fans coming back and watching. Even so, Dragon Ball is not a perfect series, it also makes mistakes. As a popular anime, Dragon Ball has repeatedly created details that make fans controversial or even completely let them down.
Earthlings are becoming more and more blurred
Dragon Ball is very popular with the audience because it introduced a series of really powerful warriors. This was perhaps most true during the heyday of the first Dragon Ball, where each warrior had a distinct style, and back then, the Saiyans weren’t in the limelight as they are now.
Dragon Ball gradually turns the Saiyan warriors into its most powerful characters, which is quite understandable, but not necessarily at the expense of the usefulness of other supporting characters. Of course, Krillin or Yamcha are not as strong as Vegeta, but Dragon Ball makes Earthlings more and more faint and very few non-Saiyan warriors can stand out.
Gohan is not the character to defeat Buu
Dragon Ball begins as the story of Goku, but as early as the first episode of Dragon Ball Z, there are hints of Gohan’s hidden powers and it’s shown that he is destined to surpass his father’s powers. Dragon Ball Z has always followed this idea and the Cell Saga ends with Gohan’s victory and Goku’s death.
The fact that Old Kai exploits Gohan’s hidden power further shows that this will be the character to defeat Buu. But unfortunately, Dragon Ball returned to the way it was and once again Goku became the winner. Gohan has never fully returned to the role and his importance to the plot has gradually diminished.
Goku leaves his family and friends to train with Uub
Many events and scenes in Dragon Ball are loved by fans, but it is the ending of the series that makes audiences unhappy. It’s true that ending a story isn’t easy, especially when it’s clear that there are still quite a few details left for the author to exploit.
The end of Dragon Ball Z is that Goku learns of Uub’s great power, which is the reincarnation of Kid Buu. Without further notice, Goku suddenly wants to leave to train with Uub, even if this leaves him behind with his family and friends.
Goku gives Moro the Senzu beans
Goku’s infinity instincts are strong, but his personality is quite naive, which somewhat overshadows Goku’s judgment. A popular anime hero, but Goku is not a violent or aggressive fighter, it is his empathy for his enemies that helps him stand out among other heroes.
However, Goku is said to be too trusting of his enemies and that got him in trouble. The moment Goku gave Cell the Senzu beans was a moment that angered many fans, but the monkey’s help to Moro, the Planet Eater, was even more disappointing. Moro doesn’t deserve forgiveness, yet Goku still gives him a chance?
Vegeta has never won
There are a lot of strong characters in Dragon Ball so it’s not a good idea to let Goku defeat all of his enemies. There are quite a few cases where Vegeta’s strength is enough to defeat a villain, but suddenly changed at the last minute, it is Goku who shines. The most obvious example of this was in the fight against the Golden Frieza.
Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta completely overwhelms his opponent, but Vegeta’s arrogance hinders him, and Frieza destroys the Earth. After Whis went back in time, it was Goku who defeated Frieza. Now, audiences increasingly know in advance that Vegeta will never be able to defeat a new villain.
