This is a spoiler-filled synopsis of Dragon Ball Super Chapter 71, which puts Goku and Vegeta on a course to fight Granolah.
In Dragon Ball Super Chapter 70, Granolah – the last remaining Cerealian – has received his wish and power boost from the god dragon at the cost of most of his remaining life. Now ready to fight Freeza, Granolah turns to a gang called the Heeters to find out where. And while the Heaters’ leader Elec doesn’t seem to be content, the gangster has another idea: Put Granolah against Goku and Vegeta in the hopes that they’ll take care of Cerealian once and for all.
The latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super , “The Heeters ‘Plan,” shows that the group’s plot has come to fruition, clarifying that there’s a confrontation between Granolah, Vegeta, and Goku going on. Here’s a spoiler recap of what happened.
At the beginning of chapter 71, Whis asks Goku if he understands the difference between himself and the Angels. Goku initially remarks that he doesn’t have a halo around his neck (though often dead Saiyans are no stranger to having a halo on his head). Annoyed at Goku’s reaction, Whis summons his staff and hits Goku in the head.
Whis then explains that Angel is “always in a state of Ultra Instinct,” while Goku thinks transformation is necessary in order to access the power. “When your heart is calm,” Whis explained, “your body will move on its own no matter what form you’re in.” After the Angel demonstrated this by performing some tricks, G0ku discovered that it would be necessary to learn how to enter Extreme Instinct in a way that did not require transformation and therefore did not need to pay the old price.
Whis then exhibits a transformation parallel to Ultra Instinct, the Angel remarking that Goku and Vegeta may not have had much time to practice, as he senses something out of the ordinary is happening in the universe. However, he wasn’t sure if the disturbance – Granolah, apparently – was friendly or hostile.
Back on Planet Cereal, Granolah tries to track down Monaito, the last remaining Namekian in the world, as he awaits news of Freeza from the Heeters. However, the Heeters have their own plans. Instead of setting out in search of Freeza, a location they already know, Elec asks Oil and Macki to visit Zuno, an omniscient being essentially with knowledge of the multiverse.
As the two prepare to convince Zuno to give them some undisclosed information, the incredibly powerful Gas expresses his disappointment that he is not allowed to fight Granolah. However, Elec explained, “Your time to fight has not yet come. Listen, you are the only member of this family who can surpass Freeza herself.” While this indicates that Gas is nowhere near Granolah’s level, Elec’s statement suggests that he is quite close to Freeza, and that means Gas has incredible strength, which could help The Heeters make their dream of galactic domination come true.
On Zuno’s planet, Macki refuses to kiss the lustful creature. In the end, however, she was satisfied, and Zuno commented that he liked “hot women” and would therefore answer ten questions from her. What they were asking for was still unclear at the time, but as Dragon Ball Super Chapter 71 progressed, it became clear that they received information to help them battle Goku and Vegeta against Granolah and use the Dragon Balls. .
As this was going on, Goku and Vegeta’s training on Beerus’ planet continued. While it’s not clear how long this all plays out, something will at times be overlooked, as the two Saiyans are more formidable than ever. However, back on Earth, Macki and Oil approach Chi-Chi who is in need of money and say they have a job for her husband. This resulted in Bulma calling Whis and the two heroes to learn the quest.
Essentially, Heeters convinces the warriors that Granolah is actually the most powerful villain and fighter in the universe, a detail that catches Goku’s attention. This also demonstrates Vegeta’s desire not to be outdone. Thus, the two Saiyans prepare to travel to Earth. In response, Whis and Beerus gave their students symbols of the new techniques they were using. For his part, Vegeta receives one of Beerus’ signature earrings, while Whis draws his symbol on Goku. For her part, Whis believes that resuming their love rival will help improve both.
Back on Earth, Macki and Oil steal the Dragon Radar in hopes of using it to collect the Dragon Balls on Planet Cereal – which don’t seem to turn to stone once used. While it’s not clear what they would wish for, Planet Cereal’s version of the Dragon Balls appears to have the same abilities as those from Earth and Namek, so the fact that they don’t turn to stone could make them pretty good dangerous in the long run.
Soon after, Goku and Vegeta arrive on Earth, where they meet Macki and Oil. After the two Heeters lied about Granolah and explained he was a villain, the group headed to Planet Cereal. Oil says it will take them 18 days to reach the world. True to his character, Goku spends most of his time eating and Vegeta training for the upcoming battle.
When the Heeters and Saiyans finally arrive at Planet Cereal, Macki tells Granolah that Freeza has sent two assassins after him. While Granolah is happy for the chance to defeat Freeza’s two men, he is soon shocked to discover that they are actually Saiyans who wiped out the Cerealians during their time under Freeza. As Dragon Ball Super Chapter 71 ends, Granolah prepares to take revenge on all those who destroyed Planet Cereal. And no matter what happens next, Goku and Vegeta will fight for their lives.
