The Super Dragon Ball The manga has diverged greatly from how it adapted the original films in its early chapters, and the way the series is now covering the events of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero proves that the manga should never have deviate from that original formula. While things could still change for the better, the latest installment hasn’t proven this disappointing yet, even for some of the more interesting deviations.
The manga itself doesn’t actually start with any source material. The series begins with an immediate adaptation of events from the movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, released a few years earlier. The manga succeeds in condensing the overall story into a nice, neat package of just four 19-page chapters. Even more impressive, the entire Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ was summarized by story writer Akira Toriyama and artist Toyotarou in a single panel in chapter #5 of Dragon Ball Super.
The plot of Dragon Ball Super’s previous movie happened quickly
Dragon Ball Super dramatically changed this approach for much of the ongoing Superhero saga. As of chapter #91, the Superhero movie adaptation has run seven 45-page chapters and Gohan has yet to transform into his Beast form and fight alongside Orange Piccolo. This movie is already four times as long as the original Battle of the Gods adaptation of the manga, with very little to show for it. While there have been some minor revisions, none of them justify the fact that the series spent over seven months retelling a story that fans have already seen.
Unsurprisingly, the best retcon to date only works because of how it complements the manga’s three exclusive chapters that serve as a prequel to the Superhero adaptation. Starting at the end of Dragon Ball Super chapter #96, chapter #97 sees Goten and Trunks fight Cell Max as Saiyaman X-1 and X-2 when they only merged into Gotenks in the original film. This retcon serves as a great call back to the chapters that were only available in the prequel manga that launched X-1 and X-2, especially since it upgrades the attack they use a himself initially by performing the same move against Cell Max with two Gamma droids. While this is an effective way to justify a prequel, it’s a relatively short moment with an excessive amount of repetitive scenes that still fail to validate the need for a postquel story itself. actual prequel. There needs to be more comebacks.
Dragon Ball Super Can Still Save Super Heroes With Just One Change
The question now is why Dragon Ball Super couldn’t speed up the delivery of the Super Hero story, especially when compared to the adaptations of Battle of the Gods and Resurrection ‘F’. Ironically, there are moments when the manga’s version of Super Hero completely ignores or skips over the film’s content, making things even more confusing as subsequent scenes match each frame of the film. Super Straight also skips most of Resurrection ‘F’, so there’s no reason it couldn’t skip every scene without Trunks and Goten to transform into X-1 and X-2 faster when fighting Te maximum planing. Hope that, Super Dragon BallBeast Gohan’s delivery would be so fresh and unique that the wait would be worth it, but that seems unlikely, at least for now.
