Dragon’s Dogma hit its highest concurrent player count in over six years over the weekend.
According to the Steam DB just discovered by Benji-Sales, the game was first released in January 2016, achieving a peak concurrent player count of 6,582 on Sunday, a number it has only ever seen. achieved right after the game’s launch. This is on par with the recently released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, which manages 6,599 concurrent players on Steam in the same 24 hour period.

The reappearance of Dragon’s Dogma can be attributed to the recent announcement of the game’s long-awaited sequel and the biggest sale on the first version. Capcom finally confirmed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 was in development last week. During the game’s 10th anniversary live stream, director Hideaki Itsuno said, “Everyone on the development team is working hard to create a game that we hope you’ll enjoy! Please wait patiently for our game.”
No gameplay details were revealed during the live stream. In a follow-up statement, Capcom said that Dragon’s Dogma 2 “will begin a new cycle,” and confirmed that a sequel is being developed using Capcom’s RE Engine. Leaked sources regarding Dragon’s Dogma 2 were revealed through a hacker attack on the company’s headquarters in November 2020 and from the game list leaked by Nvidia Geforce Now in September year 2021.
