Netflix’s The Witcher universe will continue to expand with the next prequel project, set more than 1000 years before the events of the main series.
Recently, Netflix has revealed the next trailer for The Witcher: Blood Origin, one of many film projects to expand the TV universe The Witcher they are producing. This series will include 4 episodes, with a duration of nearly 1 hour/episode, and will officially air on December 25.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is the prequel project of The Witcher, set 1200 years before the main series. The trailer above also takes a look at some of the most important events in this timeline. Which includes the golden age of the elves (Fairy); the Conjunction of Spheres brought humans and countless monsters to the Continent; and the birth of the world’s first monster hunter – who later became known collectively as the Witcher.

In reference to the original, elves inhabited the Continent many centuries ago, after dwarves and gnomes. They are collectively known as the Elder Race. During the time of their existence here, the elves built a lot of monumental structures, with such impressive designs that later people still used them to make palaces or citadels for their empire. . When humans came to the Continent through the Orb, the elves welcomed them with open arms, even teaching them a lot of knowledge about magic to be able to survive and thrive in this land.
However, after mastering what the elves taught, the humans immediately betrayed them and pushed them to the brink of destruction. Elves, despite having a very long lifespan, have a rather short reproductive cycle. Meanwhile, humans were the complete opposite, and that was the reason why they quickly gained an overwhelming advantage in terms of numbers and easily became the dominant race on the Continent.
This was partly reflected in the main series, when the elves were pushed to the remote mountains and could only wait in vain for an opportunity to counterattack. Not too many young elves survived the human sweep, and the older elves were no longer able to reproduce. That’s why it’s been a long time since a “pure elf” was born. The Witcher: Blood Origin will clarify these details as well as the enmity between humans and elves.

The finish is a particularly important event of The Witcher. The Witcher universe contains many different worlds that exist in the form of spheres. When these spheres collide, they create space cracks – acting as portals, helping creatures from one world to move to another.
As mentioned above, the event of the Orb was the reason that helped humans as well as many other monsters to reach the Continent. Magic, magic also appeared here through such a Orb, and the elves learned to use them hundreds of years ago. However, after that, people even took magic to new heights, with magic councils, with schools that train magicians to serve their political or personal ends.
In the Netflix series, the event of Bridge is represented by monoliths (Monoliths), which are portals between different worlds. This is entirely the creation of the writing team and is not included in the original novel series. The Witcher: Blood Origin will be an opportunity for them to better explain the origin of these stones.

The appearance of magic and monsters caused a great upheaval in life on the Continent, and humans saw an opportunity in that situation. They created Witchers – children who were orphaned or abandoned by their parents for various reasons, trained in swordsmanship, basic magic, and had to undergo a deadly mutation with all sorts of bizarre herbs. to strengthen the body.
The Witcher’s mission is only one: It is to kill all monsters that are dangerous to humans. Gradually, this became a professional profession, and the Witcher would be paid for the monsters they defeated.
The Witcher: Blood Origin will reveal the identity of the first Monster Hunter on the Continent. Meanwhile, the process to create a Witcher has been explained somewhat through the animated film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

As a prequel series of The Witcher, Blood of Origin can be considered a fertile ground for Netflix to exploit and unleash creativity to expand the Monster Hunter universe. This series will bring a new story and a series of new characters, based on existing foundations from the novel series by writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
Based on the trailer above, it can be seen that Blood of Origin will tell the story of the battle between 7 warriors, who are strangers, and a huge empire that cannot be defeated on the Continent. However, the event of the Bridge helped them realize that only by creating a terrible monster on their own would they have a chance to win against a mighty enemy.
3 of these 7 warriors are elves, and also serve as the main characters of Blood of Origin. It is Éile, a warrior and musician, who wants to pursue a musical career but is pushed by the currents of life and gets caught up in fierce battles. The second is Fjall, the royal guard of the Dog tribe, who is skilled at wielding an ax. Finally there is Scian, a master of swordsmanship and also Éile’s master/protector.

Besides, Jaskier, the lame poet, Geralt’s best friend, will also appear in this series. According to the trailer above, Jaskier will have the opportunity to meet a mysterious elf named Seanchai and hear the story of the Continent 1200 years ago. After that, he will tell this story through his song, just like he used to do with Geralt’s adventures.
Before the broadcast, The Witcher: Blood Origin has already received a lot of attention thanks to the presence of Duong Tu Quynh (Michelle Yeoh), a very prominent face of the world cinema. The actress will play the role of Scian, alongside some other names like Sophia Brown (as Éile), Laurence O’Fuarain (Fjall) or Minnie Driver (Seanchai). Joey Batey will also return to his familiar Jaskier role.
