Teasers for the next character have seemingly made their way into the game, and the latest easter egg seems to have implicitly confirmed the agent will be from India.
Riot Games is trying day by day to integrate cultures from around the world into their first-person shooter by introducing characters from various countries. This has resulted in an incredibly diverse agent pool system, bringing their own flair to Valorant.
The latest releases like Fade and Neon have added to the tradition by highlighting agents from Turkey and the Philippines. While we wait for more to come in Valorant’s future, we can fully expect this trend to continue; With the new information about agent 21, there seem to be some clues that shed some light on what we can expect.
Valorant players found a new “email” inside the Range practice area, which quickly convinced many that an Indian agent was on his way to the game.
“The new keeper of the Legion’s power source is named: Varun Batra,” the message read. “I tracked down his Alpha clone. Turns out he’s a REALM agent.”
Valorant players are particularly interested in the name featured in the announcement, Varun Batra, hinting at what the character could bring. Another person connected the dots, identifying the Indian ocean god, Varuna, as a possible inspiration for this agent.
The message goes on to explain that REALM’s goal is to “recover historic artifacts from black market trade”. It’s unclear if this is a hint about the upcoming characters’ identities, but Riot has clarified the naming of a new person in the Valorant lore.
Previously, we’ve been told by Valorant leakers that the 21st agent will have the codename Mage, but this could be the first time we’ve been able to give the character a name. Until Riot confirms this, it’s best to take it as a reference before the new agent officially launches.
