One of the players that attracted a lot of attention from the LPL community in the last transfer window of 2022 was Scout. The former champion of Worlds 2021, one of the “Three Saints” of the LPL, has had a lot of trouble transferring from EDward Gaming. It was not until the last days of the transfer window that Scout was said to have a new destination, which is LNG Esports.
However, recently, EDG President – Mr. Edward posted a forum about the transfer of two players who determined to leave EDG in the last transfer window, Scout and Viper. Regarding Viper’s case, the President said that he has been away from home for too long and in 2022, he wants to return to the LCK. However, EDG President revealed that Viper has a lover and the two have been in a long distance relationship for 2 years.
As for Scout, the President of EDG said he had a “night walk” behavior, tacitly negotiating with an LCK team before ending his contract with EDG. According to the President, Scout did this in 2021 to get a raise from the team. And he said, this year, Scout has once again repeated the “old trick” with the same purpose. He also said that, because no LCK team received it, Scout returned to the LPL.
A part of LPL fans immediately attacked Mr. Edward. Because, both Viper and Scout are not under the management of EDG anymore. He did not share the team’s private incident in a public press conference, but only gave his opinion through the livestream channel. Many people believe that he has invaded the privacy of the players and thinks that the EDG Chairman and Board of Directors have given Scout a contract that is too harsh to make him want to return to the LCK.
As for Scout and Viper, neither the players nor their new host teams have commented on the EDG President’s statements. But perhaps, in the future, Riot needs to have clear and strict rules related to transfer, to avoid affecting both the team and the players themselves.
