A mother in the state of Madhya Pradesh suffered a punctured lung after she got into a fight with a tiger empty-handed to save her 1-year-old son.
This shocking incident happened on September 4 near Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh state, India. A tiger appeared to have escaped and attacked Archana Choudhary, 25, who was working in a nearby field with her 1-year-old son she was carrying.
According to the story, the tiger caught the child and let it go, immediately the mother rushed to chase, and loudly cried for help from people around. Fortunately, the nearby villagers rushed over in time and took up arms to fight the tiger.
The mother and daughter were then taken to the intensive care unit and given anti-rabies injections. The surgeon in charge of the operation, Misthi Ruhela said:
“Although the tiger attacked first, the child seemed to have only minor scratches, but the mother was not, her condition is more serious.”
Accordingly, Choudhary had a punctured lung and many wounds in the abdomen, fortunately, he was taken to the hospital in time, so he received emergency treatment in time.
The incident of a tiger appearing made people in the area extremely worried, even after being chased so far, local authorities have not yet caught it back to the reserve. The representative of the reserve told the press:
“We are doing our best to track down the tiger that has escaped, while also increasing security to ensure that no other tiger escapes.”
Experts believe that predators’ aggression and attack on humans is because humans are destroying their habitat, forcing them to flood into cities and hunt there.
At the end of 2021, India also recorded a case of a mother and 6-year-old child being attacked by a leopard in Sanjay Gandhi national park, Sidhi district, Madhya Pradesh state.
