While the highly-anticipated new chapter of Tite Kubo’s Bleach manga gives fans a hint of the series’ future, a new exhibition coming up in Japan will look back at the popular manga’s past. .
As Crunchyroll reports, the new Bleach exhibition will be held in Tokyo’s Shibuya district from December 18 to January 16 and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original publication of Tite Kubo’s landmark shonen manga series . The stylish preview video for the exhibit focuses on characters appearing throughout the series, from central protagonists like Ichigo and Rukia, to villains like Aizen. Details about the exhibition will be revealed in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #38, published on August 23.
Bleach tells the story of Ichigo, a young man with superhuman awareness of ghosts, who becomes embroiled in a conflict between the Hollows, a toxic race of spirits, and the Soul Reapers, a group of powerful warriors that protect Humanity’s defenders and souls have recently departed from Hollows. After a chance encounter with Rukia, Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper on his own, and must learn to hone his skills to fight not only the Hollow but also the alienation within the ranks of the Soul Reaper.
Kubo’s manga was one of the most popular shonen series of the early 00s, and has been adapted into an anime series spanning over eight years. In addition to the newly published manga chapter, the anime series has a brand new season in production, which will adapt the manga’s chapters published after the original series ends.
