In a new interview, Bethesda’s Todd Howard confirms that Fallout 5 will be the studio’s next big project after The Elder Scrolls 6.
Bethesda is venturing into a new genre of gaming with Starfield, the studio’s first original IP in decades. But while many gamers are looking forward to Starfield and its vast game world, others want to see new installments in the series that have made Bethesda famous, especially The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. It looks like there’s going to be a lot for The Elder Scrolls and Fallout fans to look forward to in the years to come, as Bethesda has confirmed Fallout 5’s existence.
Todd Howard of Bethesda was recently interviewed by IGN about Starfield. In the interview, Howard confirmed that Bethesda will do Fallout 5 after completing The Elder Scrolls 6. “The Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and you know, we’re going to do Fallout 5 right after that.” is what Howard said. Howard also said that Bethesda has “other projects” they’ll be working on as well, although we don’t yet know what those might be.
This isn’t the first time Todd Howard has mentioned Fallout 5, but it’s the first time he’s let fans know when the game will be made. With Starfield out in 2023, it’s unlikely that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released a few years later, and so it’s unlikely Fallout 5 won’t be out until 2030 at its current rate. Even so, gamers can still be delighted to know for sure that Fallout 5 is on its way.
Fallout-loving gamers can expect a long wait to play Fallout 5, but hopefully Starfield will be good enough to keep the community enjoying in the meantime. Also, although it has not been officially announced yet, it is rumored that Microsoft may be looking to continue releasing a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas, once again bringing Obsidian Entertainment to produce.
It remains to be seen if the Fallout: New Vegas 2 rumors will come true, but at least for now gamers can count on Fallout 5 to launch at some point after Starfield and The Elder. Scrolls 6 on shelves. Whenever a game comes out, it will likely be an Xbox-specific product, as part of the reason Microsoft acquired Bethesda was to ensure exclusive games for Xbox consoles and the Game service. Pass.
