On February 8, a figure distributor that launched a product based on the popular Tokyo Revengers franchise announced that they will be offering refunds to those who have pre-ordered and purchased items, after receiving many comments from buyers that the actual figure is far different from the released sample images.
Specifically, from the beginning of February, the Tokyo-based Office 28 Production company began selling and delivering Manjiro Sano/Mikey character models in Tokyo Revengers to many people. At the time, the company stated that: “Products are manufactured by F-Collection and are sold under the supervision of the copyright holder. Sales of products are assigned to Office 28 Production”.
According to direct sales and other mail-order sites, production of the Mikey model will be limited to 10,000, for 9,800 yen (about $85). Specifications are: Mikey figure 210mm tall and made of PVC/ABS material with some detachable costume parts.
However, Office 28 Production and producer F Collection (based in Fukuoka), announced on February 8 that they will be refunding customers after receiving feedback from some buyers. that the sample picture and the actual product are too different and they want a refund.
While the promotional material with sample images once stated, “Pictures are prototypes and may differ from the actual product”, but both companies stated: “We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.” any inconvenience this has caused you. Going forward, we will take your comments seriously and treat them in good faith.”
This incident was discussed on many social networks because although the photos taken from the actual model did not show too much difference between the “promised version and the received product”, and then the problem was solved. clearly indicates that the difference is in the low quality materials used to make the product. On specialized forums there are also some comments about the bad design of the face.
