Fast X is part 10 of the Fast & Furious franchise (Vietnamese title: Too Fast Too Dangerous). The story of the speed-loving “big family” led by Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) has gradually come to an end, expected to end after part 11. This time, they face Dante – the son of tycoon Hernan Reyes, who had an accident and died while chasing Dom in Fast Five (2011).
The film also brings the audience back to the movies of part 5 in the franchise, typically the scene where the Dom group used a car to rob a safe that was strictly guarded by Hernan Reyes. The new villain by Jason Momoa is cleverly integrated into the old movie segment to create an impressive character introduction. The audience also immediately understood the feud between Dante and Dom, predicting an uncompromising confrontation between the two factions.
Years later, when he had enough wings, Dante sought revenge on Dominic. However, his goal is not simply to kill the famous driver. Listening to his father’s instructions, Dante wanted to make the male lead live worse than death. The targets he targets are all relatives, teammates or people who have simply helped Dom in the past.
Fast & Furious style action party
Fast X is perhaps the franchise’s biggest movie to date, reminiscent of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War and heralding an equally epic “Endgame”. According to Screen Rant, the project has a budget of about $ 340 million – is one of the most expensive movies in history. That means Fast X is invested more than 140 million USD compared to the part 9 released 2 years ago.
The audience can easily recognize the crew’s ambition with a series of action scenes that are eye-catching and pleasing to the ears. Fast X is like an entertainment party, serving all the “foods” of the brand Too Fast Too Dangerous, from chase scenes, gun battles, one-on-one or acrobatics with cars and planes. ..
The content is also influenced by works of the global spy genre such as Bourne, 007… Dominic and his teammates became wanted after being turned away by The Agency. They have to drift to many different countries to escape and track down the enemy. The team of monster drivers has since had the opportunity to travel in a series of new lands, from Antarctica to Europe and America.
The constantly changing context creates conditions for the team to build many impressive action scenes. The audience will surely be impressed with the chases and brain-fights in many famous cities such as the Vatican, London, Rio de Janeiro… The grandeur of the explosions has also been upgraded thanks to the huge budget. giant of the project.
As usual, the entertainment element is always featured in all parts of Fast & Furious. The film still cleverly integrates action and comedy elements to attract the audience. In addition to fighting, the characters have interesting “speech fights” on the screen. The comedy segment is mainly integrated in the segment of the Roman – Tej pair and his uncle Jakob (John Cena).
Another bright spot of Fast X is Jason Momoa’s villain Dante. The team chose to build him in a rather exaggerated, cruel, scheming but slightly “funny” way, ostentatious. Aquaman actor has a lot of land to play with such an interesting character. In addition, Momoa’s constantly changing outfits and hairstyles also brought laughter to the audience.
Fast X is difficult to satisfy in terms of content
Fast X’s script and storytelling overcome many of the limitations of the previous part. The crew knows how to speed up the movie circuit, limit the lengthy passages, and talk about clichés. However, basically, the film content does not have many unique points to follow. Anyway, Fast & Furious is not a movie genre that makes the audience ponder or follow the character’s journey.
The crew is somewhat greedy when integrating too many characters into the film. Up to now, Dominic’s “family” has absorbed many more members. Everyone has a land to appear in Fast X, including characters who have not appeared in many previous installments. This makes the film content quite messy and redundant scenes.
Fast X retains the “non-physical” style in action scenes. Although not to the extent of letting cars fly into space like the previous part, the crew still gives the audience ridiculously unbelievable flying cars on the screen. Some details in the film are also developed quite awkwardly, especially like the ending of John Cena’s character Jacob at the end.
A big minus point in Fast X is the acting of Vin Diesel. Although most of the ramblings were limited, the crew still spent a lot of time with Dom talking about his family. Scenes are often shot with close-ups, although Vin Diesel can’t show many excellent facial expressions. At the same time, his dialogue is also too dramatic and slow, affecting the fast and dramatic flow of the overall film.
Scoring: 3.5/5
Fast X still gives the audience a buffet of images and sounds. Fans of the franchise will surely enjoy when the scale of action scenes in this part is significantly upgraded. However, the film’s content is still somewhat confusing and predictable even though the crew tried to create many knots at the end.
