Rina Endō plays the “new Eureka” Iris in the story setting 10 years later, in the film delayed due to COVID-19
The official website for the Eureka Seven franchise announced a new trailer. The trailer reveals the visuals, staff, cast, and November 26 opening date for the third and final film in the Eureka Seven: Hi – Evolution (Kōkyōshihen Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution) film trilogy on Tuesday.
New to the cast is Rina Endō, who plays the new character Iris, a creature born from the Scub Coral just like Eureka, and possesses the same power to control the Scub Coral that Eureka once had. Eureka Thurston has lost her old abilities and is still an ordinary person serving in the army, responsible for protecting Iris.
The story of the third film is set 10 years after the end of the previous film “Great Reunification”, bringing people from the virtual world inside the Scub Coral into the real world. The world’s population is now divided into Green Earth, people from the Scub Coral world; and Green Earth, people of the real world. Their coexistence is far from peaceful, with many difficulties behind the scenes unfolding. Dewey Novak, the military leader of the Green Earth, decides to launch terrorist attacks as a way to protect himself.
Eureka, hated by the world as a symbol and source of world division, now works as a top military special agent in the UN’s secret operations agency ACID, still fighting to protect defend a fragile peace as a form of atonement. Her special mission is to protect Iris, a “new Eureka”, born from the same Scub Coral as her, and use her old ability to manipulate it. While confronting at first, they gradually come to understand each other’s loneliness. Eureka will have to do her best to keep both Iris and the world safe.
Dai Sato is no longer writing the screenplay for the film, with director Tomoki Kyoda and screenwriter Yuuichi Nomura of Eureka Seven currently collaborating on the screenplay.
