The move to acquire the development company Metal Slug Tactics shows the intention to expand the game distribution capabilities of Focus Home.
France’s Focus Home Interactive has announced the acquisition of Parisian Leikir Studio, which produces and publishes Metal Slug Tactics. The amount and terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
With this purchase, Focus Home Interactive gained access to the studio’s “critical technical know-how”. The company has three new art directions, which focus on releasing games with 2D graphics, stylized as 3D graphics and pixel art.
Focus Home Interactive owns Leikir Studio.
Note that Leikir Studio has been working indirectly with Focus Home Interactive for a while. The tactical RPG Metal Slug Tactics was acquired by Dotemu, a subsidiary of Focus Home Interactive, last August for 53.5 million euros. No release date has been announced yet but is expected to be released in 2022.
Leikir Studio is the 5th company to join Focus Home Interactive. The publisher previously acquired Dotemu, Deck13 Interactive, Douze-Dixièmes and Streum On Studio.
Currently Leikir Studio has 20 employees, developing games like Isbarah, Wondershot! and Rogue Lords.
