Horizon: Forbidden West launches next week, a new trailer focusing on what drives Aloy as she takes on a new challenge.
Expectations for Horizon: Forbidden West are currently at their peak as the game’s official launch date approaches. Fans have been filled with excitement over the latest installment of the post-apocalyptic saga. Even some other exclusive Sony titles are being heavily advertised such as Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Ghost of Tsushima launching promotional content. Now Sony rolls out a more epic trailer ahead of the launch date. This new trailer isn’t about gameplay, but the game looks great already, it doesn’t feel too far away from what fans have seen from the PS5 and PS4 gameplay trailers. This trailer features a voiceover of Aloy recalling the teachings of her father Rost and how it will affect her decision to continue her mission to help others and save the planet.
The minute-long trailer shows Aloys in a variety of environments that somewhat prove their existence in Horizon: Forbidden West. Aloy is a brave warrior who takes on the Clamberjaws, being a hero as she saves a member of the Utaru tribe from being crushed by Tremortusk and researches why the Red Blight is infecting the land. The voiceover is what motivates her as she takes on the new challenge of solving the mysteries of Forbidden West.
Horizon: Forbidden West releases on February 18 for PS4 and PS5.
In the comments section of this trailer, fans are expressing their excitement for the game as it’s only a few days away from launch. There is also a theory that Horizon: Forbidden West will have a flying mount. That’s based on one of the final scenes in this trailer, where Aloy is gesturing kindly towards Sunwing that has landed behind her. She would only do this if it was a machine she had “tamed”. The trailer ends with her darting towards the cliff and into the scene she just looked out into the distance. Either she just jumps out and fans have to assume she’s going to use Shieldwing, or make the bold assumption that she’s in the rear of Sunwing.
There’s no trailer or word yet that suggests a flying mount will make an appearance, but it’s not out of the question. Taking a page from another Sony exclusive, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Sunwing can be used as a more engaging form of fast movement. Instead of looking at the loading bar, Aloy can use Sunwing to travel long distances and showcase the beauty of Horizon: Forbidden West.
