Forza Horizon 5 has officially passed the 20 million player milestone in less than seven months since the game’s launch.
Forza Horizon 5’s recent major milestone has been confirmed in the game’s Hall of Fame rankings. You can access this board at the Horizon Festival main website. The leaderboard shows the player’s total score and their position relative to every other player. At the time of writing, the Hall of Fame has a total of 20,012,405 players.
This is the latest milestone in what Xbox previously called the biggest launch ever of the hit racing series. The game attracted nearly 1 million players before it was officially released, due to the premium version allowing early access. This is especially notable because the game was available on the Xbox Game Pass service on day one, which of course gamers are willing to happily pay for the $99 fee for the full version or $45. for the standard version.
As such, the game grossed between $36 million and $79 million a week before its general release. Upon release, Xbox later confirmed that the game was played by more than 10 million players in its first week, making it the most successful first-week launch title in Xbox history. This is five times more than its predecessor Forza Horizon 4, which also launched on Game Pass and hit 2 million players in its first week.
The game’s first DLC could be revealed soon, presumably at the upcoming Microsoft & Bethesda Showcase. The preview for what appears to be the game’s first expansion was spotted in February, but there is no official release year. Forza Horizons 5 has an expansion pack available on the Xbox Store that “includes two game expansions as they become available. Each expansion will introduce a new location, vehicles, and gameplay.”
Forza Horizon’s 4 expansion pack includes the Fortune Island and Lego Speed Champions game expansions. Fortune Island will allow players to travel to a mountainous island with harsh terrain. The expansion features the largest mountain road in the history of the Horizon racing series. The game has also added 10 more cars, which can be used in the main game. Lego Speed Champions has added to the Lego valley, a new location in the game where most of the environment is made of Lego. This expansion has added 5 more Lego versions of popular cars, some of which are based on real Lego sets.
It’s currently unclear where the expansion will be set up, but given the cadence of Forza Horizon 4’s release, it’s likely that the first installment of the DLC will be a smaller region similar to the main game.
