FunPlus Phoenix head coach Erik “d00mbr0s” Sandgren has announced that VCT Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen champions are looking for a new sub before Valorant Champions kicks off.
FPX’s roster had three players on the bench for VCT Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen, however they ended up using only one of these players for about half of the tournament. Recently, the best Valorant team in the world said that they are looking for some other names for the reserve position to prepare for the Valorant Champions that will take place later this month because in the official line-up of the team. they have three Russian players and one IGL from Ukraine.
Due to travel restrictions between the two countries, the team was previously forced to miss Stage 1 Masters despite having already qualified to participate as the tournament’s No 1 seed. In his post, coach d00mbr0s made it clear that the team was looking for a “smoke expert” but left other positions open, adding that “if you’re good enough, any position in the squad will that’s OK”.
Earlier, at Valorant Masters FPX went 2-2 with stand-in Mathias “SEIDER” Seider on their roster. With the incorporation of SEIDER in the lineup, FPX has made certain changes to suit the Danish player’s playing style.
FPX also brought on a substitute player, Kamil ‘baddyG’ Graniczka, in the Stage 1 Challengers and Playoffs. Under the leadership of the new IGL baddyG (replacing IGL Kyrylo “ANGE1” Karasov who was unable to attend due to the conflicts in Ukraine and Ardis ‘ardiis’ Svarenieks due to illness), FPX also finished 5-1. .
It seems that despite the fact that the roster is constantly being shuffled, this does not affect FPX’s performance at all as they still achieve extremely good results no matter which player is on the roster. However, with their full roster, FPX looks like another monster in Valorant matches. When Dmitry “SUYGETSU” Ilyushin was reintroduced to the roster at the Valorant Masters, FPX didn’t lose a game and lost just five maps throughout the tournament.
FPX will begin the Valorant Champions journey with the rest of the qualified teams on September 2.
