Over the past two months, Free Fire has dropped significantly in terms of downloads and revenue (according to Sensor Tower’s statistics). But that’s not all. Free Fire World Series 2022 Bangkok recorded a significant drop in viewership compared to the game’s previous global event earlier this year.

The Free Fire World Series, which took place twice this year, garnered a peak viewership of 354,836. This number is down from the 1.47 million figure recorded at the Free Fire World Series 2022 Sentosa in May, according to statistics from Esports Charts.
Free Fire is the most famous survival game in the world, published by Garena. The game’s latest World Series event took place in Bangkok, Thailand, and saw EVOS Phoenix take the championship spot with $500,000 in prize money. The most watched match is the final between EVOS Phoenix and Keyd Stars. Overall, the event drew an average of 170,000 viewers, significantly less than the previous event’s average of 600,000.

The numbers are even more interesting when comparing the tournament in Bangkok with the Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore, which is considered one of the most watched e-sports events of all time – and also is a record set by Free Fire itself. The 2021 event had the highest 5.4 million viewers, a record that is rare for a mobile, PC or console game to match.
