The “Project Sekai Anniversary Festa 2021” event announced Sunday that production on a Sega mini-anime of Project Sekai: Colorful Stage!. The Hatsune Miku smartphone rhythm game has been greenlit. Ten scheduled episodes of Petit Seka (Puchi Sek) will stream for free on YouTube.
The anime will feature the game’s characters in a “2.5-headed” super deformed form, and the anime will have more of an air of humor than the game itself. Sunday’s event revealed that all of the game’s music units will appear in the anime.
The game takes place in Sekai, a world where real human emotions are realized. There are many Sekai, and each one’s form is based on different emotions. Virtual singers perform real-world creator songs. Singers change their appearance based on the owner’s emotions, and they help creators uncover true emotions. Untitled songs were born around the same time as Sekai, but were quiet with no melody or lyrics. When the owner discovers his true feelings, the emotion becomes a song titled.
The game is a collaboration between Sega, Crypton Future Media and Colorful Palette, a subsidiary of Craft Egg. The game launched in Japan in September 2020 and will launch worldwide this year.
