Gojo Satoru is one of the most loved characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, and the “national teacher” design is inspired by a character from Naruto.
“National Teacher” Gojo Satoru is a teacher at Tokyo Magic College. He uses his mantra to control the space around him in countless ways. Although he calls himself “the strongest”, that is not an exaggeration, as most allies and enemies do not dare to compete with him for this title. They also consider him one of the most dangerous of mankind. Because of this, Satoru is respected by many magicians and has great influence in the wizarding world. He convinces his superiors at school to spare Itadori Yuji’s life until Yuji swallows all of Sukuna’s fingers. He is the teacher of Yuji, Fushiguro Megumi and Kugisaki Nobara. During a fight at the Tokyo subway station, he was sealed in a dungeon by a group of curse masters. The fact that he was sealed has caused certain disturbances to the magician world, even Japan.
Regarding the shape of this character, Gojo Satoru possesses a tall, towering body compared to his students, and is considered by many to be very attractive. He has white hair that is usually raised up when he wears a bandage on his face, but Gojo lets it fall down when he wears casual clothes. Gojo has bright blue eyes, but they are usually covered by his signature black eyepatch or a pair of dark sunglasses.
While working, Gojo wears a high-collared black jacket with dark pants and boots. In the past, Gojo wore bandages over his eyes, not just a simple blindfold.
With white hair and a characteristic eyepatch, when it comes to Gojo Satoru, many viewers will surely think that this character’s design is based on the teacher Kakashi Hatake. However, this information has been refuted in the fanbook of author Akutami Gege, it is true that Gojo was heavily inspired by a character in Naruto, but it is not Kakashi.
“I’ve often heard that Gojo Satoru is cool and has the same appearance as Kakashi-sensei, but honestly he’s not on the same level as Kakashi. As for the Gojo character’s design, it was more influenced by the head and eyepatch proctor during the Gennin Exams than it was based on Kakashi.
The design of this character made a big impression on me, but when I met Mr. Kishimoto and asked about the character, he said ‘Is there this character?'”.
(Even the creator of the series forgot about the superintendent.)
In addition, the dragonfly symbol on Gojo’s Yukata as a child is a tribute to the character Tonbo (dragonfly).
