In the present era of Dragon ball myth, it seems absurd that Goku–a warrior who has surpassed the power levels of literal gods – would be accused of stealing any kind of technique from YamchaBut shockingly, that’s exactly what happened in a particularly silly (but at the same time scary) plot of Dragon Ball GT.
Yamcha is perhaps the most disappointing character in the entire Dragon Ball universe – and the fact that this doesn’t always happen makes him even more frustrating. While Yamcha has become a laughingstock among the other Z-Fighters (with his elimination from Dragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Power being the perfect example of this), Yamcha used to be a pretty cool fighter. In the classic Dragon Ball era, Yamcha was a desert bandit who used swords and studied martial arts. He even has a signature move that is both visually impressive and impactful, the Wolf Fang Fist. Not only that, Yamcha was even able to defeat Goku on his own while the Saiyan warrior was at his strongest – and it was during this fight that Yamcha used a technique that Goku ended up stealing.
Goku plans to defeat Zoonama the same way Yamcha defeated him
In Dragon Ball GT season 1, episode 7 (written by Aya Matsui, directed by Osamu Kasai, produced by Toei Animation), Goku, Trunks, and Pan find themselves on an alien planet in their search for the Dragon Balls. black stars throughout their universe. . In this world, a village is being terrorized by a giant monster (resembling an anthropomorphic catfish) named Zoonama. Zoonama seems to have the terrifying ability to cause earthquakes by shaking his beard, and he uses this power as leverage to get villagers to do whatever he says – including forcing a in the women who are his brides. The woman in question possessed a dragon ball and she made a deal with the Z-Fighters that if they helped her, she would give them the dragon ball. So Goku came up with a slightly different but seemingly similar plan.
Goku’s plan to stop Zoonama is to have one of the townspeople get close to the monster and then cut Zoonama’s beard with a pair of giant scissors. This is exactly what Yamcha did when fighting Goku in a chapter of classic Dragon Ball. In Dragon Ball chapter 22 by Akira Toriyama, Goku transforms (for the first time on console) into a Great Ape – a transformation famous for wiping out entire planets – and Yamcha takes on Goku without hesitation . In a moment of quick thinking, Yamcha told his shapeshifting partner, Puar, to transform into a giant pair of scissors, which Yamcha used to cut off Goku’s tail – a move that effectively eliminated the results of Goku’s Great Ape power and reverts him back to his human form. Since this ‘technique’ gave Yamcha his greatest victory to date, it takes the top spot as the fighter’s best move – and Goku seems to agree.
Yamcha’s fighting tactics against Goku clearly stuck with the Saiyans as he and Yamcha came up with the same solution to two very similar problems – indicating that Goku really stolen Yamchathe greatest Dragon ball technique.
