Google is improving in-game ads that don’t affect users

Ads are part of mobile games. Advertising is also a way to make money and popularize the brand.

Almost casual games with extremely simple gameplay and can not take more than a week to build often insert many ads in the game. Therefore, recently, Google actively built advertising policies for applications on the CH Play store.

Developers will be subject to the new Google Ads policies, according to certain guidelines. Full-screen interstitial ads of all formats (video, GIF, static, etc.) show up unexpectedly, usually when the user chooses.

Google will not allow ads to appear during gameplay at the beginning of a level or during the start of a content segment. A full-screen video interstitial that appears before the app’s loading screen (display).

Full-screen interstitial ads of all formats cannot be closed after 15 seconds. Full-screen interstitial ads that don’t interrupt the user in their actions (e.g., after a score screen in a game app) can last for more than 15 seconds.

Game developers will have to follow the rules to ensure players take the gaming experience more seriously.

All of this means that developers can’t trick players into viewing full-screen ads that they don’t choose. Ads cannot take up space at the top of generic content or play at the top of levels. Additionally, unless a player opts in to the ad for rewards-related reasons, full-screen ads cannot be longer than 15 seconds. Developer ads cannot interrupt any other actions the player triggers in the game.

The policy is effective from September 2022.

These policies will go into effect September 30, 2022, but certain issues remain for now. Some apps on the Play Store that use ads to make money Google will surely have to find a way to make it logical, not rampant as it is now. These policies don’t remove annoying ads, but they certainly place some restrictions on how much developers can thrive with ads.

“Developers must follow advertising guidelines to ensure a high-quality user experience when they use apps on Google Play. Users will not be able to see your ads for unexpected reasons,” Google said in a statement.
