(Thethaovanhoa.vn) – This expenditure of Google Play is part of a capital support plan to help indie game companies develop.
Aoca Game Labs – a Brazilian mobile indie game company, best known for its Árida series. This is a series of games showing the history and culture of indigenous people in the town of Canudos (Bahia state, Brazil). Recently, this company made a video detailing the inspiration behind the hit Árida series of games, and sent a video to participate in Google’s #WeArePlay event – a capital support project for companies.
Impressing the entire jury, their video received a $2 million investment from the Google Play Indie Games Fund. Although this is not a huge investment, for a still growing business like Aoca Game Labs, this capital is the main driving force and an important factor to help the manufacturer expand its business.
With this investment, Google allows Aoca to use the capital as they wish, without the intervention of any party. According to Aoca, the investment from Google will go towards growing their portfolio, restructuring the business and boosting the Árida game chain.
Mr. Filipe Pereira, CEO of Aoca happily said: “What has happened to us this year has been amazing. We released the game with a mobile version, receiving a no strings attached investment. Thank you Google for trusting our work. We will try to seize new opportunities to help the company grow more in 2023.”
Aoca Game Labs is planning to release a sequel to Árida next year. At the same time, the company also ported games to consoles such as Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
