The Harvey Awards, which celebrate excellence in comic books and sequential art, revealed the list of nominees for this year’s awards on Friday. Nominations for the Best Manga category include:

The Harvey Awards added the Best Manga category in 2018. Kabi Nagata’s manga My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness won the first award in the category. Kōhei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia won the award in 2019. Kamome Shirahama’s Witch Hat Atelier won the award last year with Osamu Tezuka’s “God of Manga” inducted into the Awards Hall of Fame. In previous years, the manga has been nominated along with other manga in the “Best American Edition of Foreign Documentary” category. The last manga to win this category was Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan in 2014. One-Punch Man and Showa: A History of Japan (1953-1989) were nominated in 2016 but failed to win. “Best Edition of American Foreign Documentary” is no longer a category.
Unlike the Eisner Awards and other awards in the North American comic book industry, the Harvey Awards are nominated and selected by comic experts themselves.
This year’s Harvey Awards will feature a digital event for the second year in a row. The ceremony will have a live stream within the framework of New York Comic Con, taking place from October 7-10.
