An unexpectedly leaked new logo for Hideo Kojima’s Overdose horror game features extremely similar characteristics to PT and Silent Hill.
It’s been a long time since Death Stranding released and many gamers are still interested in what Hideo Kojima will do next. While the evidence for a Death Stranding sequel is already quite promising, recent indications are that there is another horror game in development by the beloved director.
Leaks for Hideo Kojima’s new game have confirmed a few details, but there’s still plenty of speculation and questions left to be answered. The title is tipped to star Margaret Qualley, who played Mama from Death Stranding, with the game’s official name appearing to be Overdose. Nothing has been revealed yet about the gameplay mechanics of the game other than the fact that it will allow players to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives. However, another new leak has surfaced showing the game’s logo, and a second O in it that appears to be related to PT.
Many gamers may already know Hideo Kojima’s PT as it is one of the most unique horror titles in recent years. Short for Playable Teaser, the game is filled with intense scares and unique puzzles. Once resolved, it will provide players with a reveal trailer for Silent Hills, confirming that major actors like Guillermo Del Toro will be backing the project. Unfortunately, Kojima’s working relationship with Konami did not go well, leading to the director’s departure and the cancellation of a promising new role on Silent Hill. However, in a new discovery by Twitter user @Edward8920, it is possible that Kojima is working on PT Silent Hill again.
In the Overdose logo, gamers can see three separate circles arranged in a triangular layout. This image has appeared in the process of playing PT games and it is very unlikely that Kojima just accidentally reused them. Silent Hill fans also recognize these circles from one of the series’ iconic logos, which makes them an interesting reference in the PT trailer. By that logic, it’s possible that the game Overdose is. new is also the premise for a Silent Hill project.
While this may just be a funny reference Kojima put in his new work to refer to the ill-fated Silent Hills, it would be odd to include these images in Overdose’s official name logo without actually being build for something in the game. The biggest question will be how Kojima has a chance to develop Silent Hill again, as it is likely he will never return to work with Konami. Perhaps Microsoft or Sony, the rumored partners for his next game have secured the rights from Konami. Right now it’s all speculation, but with a rumor that the game will be revealed at Summer Game Fest, gamers may soon know the answer.
