With a new trailer at New York Comic Con, Crunchyroll revealed all 12 episodes of High Guardian Spice will air October 26.
Crunchyroll revealed a new trailer for the High Guardian Spice original series at New York Comic Con 2021, as well as the news that all 12 episodes of the American magical girl cartoon will be available to premiere on the 26th. October.
This trailer introduces the series’ four main characters, each with spice-themed names: the human adventurer Rosemary (voiced by Briana Leon), her witch best friend Sage (voiced by Briana Leon), Lauren White), the dwarf blacksmith Parsley (Amber Romero) and the leprechaun Archer (Michelle Deco). These girls are all students at the Academy, trained to be heroes, and find themselves having to protect the world from an unknown ominous threat. Rosemary says that she and her friends “will scale mountains and fight mermaids… [và] to be absolutely scary guys.”
Crunchyroll has also announced the full cast list for High Guardian Spice. The show’s supporting characters and their respective voice actors:

Parnelle, the youngest student at High Guardian Academy, will be played by Barbara Goodson
Neppy Cat, a cat that hangs out near the High Guardian Academy with secret abilities, will be played by Cam Clarke
Snapdragon, Amaryllis’ most difficult best friend who doesn’t feel like a real fit, played by Julia Kaye
Slime Boy, a second year witch who is a musician and monster lover, played by Julian Koster
Amaryllis, a witch with authority and school bully, will be played by Katie McVay
Lavender, Rosemary’s mother and a powerful and famous Guardian who went missing four years ago, will be played by Liisa Lee
Professor Caraway, a Power Guardian and professor of sacred alphabets at the High Guardian Academy, will be played by show creator Raye Rodriguez
High Guardian Spice was first announced in August 2018 with a projected Spring 2019 release date. It is the first American animated series produced by Crunchyroll’s Burbank studio. The initial announcement trailer included concept images but didn’t include any footage from the show and included very little detail in the plot; it instead focuses on diversity behind the scenes, noting that the show has an all-female writer room. A combination of anime fans annoyed that Crunchyroll is producing non-anime content, along with cultural anti-feminist fighters outraged by the announcement trailer, resulted in a backlash. notable reverberation for the series.
