Google has revealed the most searched games this year.
Google shared the search trends for 2023 and the games in the top 10 are all familiar names. Besides topics like people, actors, movies, TV shows, musicians, songs, etc., Google has announced the top gaming terms people searched for this year. It’s no surprise that the magical role-playing game Hogwarts Legacy takes the top spot, followed immediately by The Last of Us and a number of other blockbusters. From Google search trends, it can be seen that users are very interested in Hogwarts Legacy in early February because this is when the game launches on PS5, PC and Xbox Series X. Other versions of the game include The PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch are released throughout the year, which could also push searches well beyond February. The successful launch of Hogwarts Legacy as well as the controversy surrounding the game are also factors that attract attention.
The second game to make the top search list is The Last of Us. The leading topic in the TV category is the TV series The Last of Us so keywords about games will also be searched many times. In addition, the fact that the Remaster version of The Last of Us Part 2 was announced last month with an expected release date of January 2024 also contributed to boosting this game’s rankings. Other notable games in the top 10 include Bethesda’s highly anticipated title Starfield (number five), Game of the Year Baldur’s Gate 3 (number six), fun game Suika Game (number seven), Diablo 4 (number eight) and Sons of the Forest (number 10). Surprisingly, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom did not make this list.
