“Honestly, T1 is now much stronger than Super Team SKT T1 2019”

Not until now, but as soon as G2 Esports won the LEC Spring 2022, the confrontation between them and T1 at the upcoming MSI was mentioned. Perhaps among the teams in Europe, G2 is the one who left the biggest “heart wound” for Faker. No one would have thought that in that crazy 2019, G2 Esports could defeat the mighty SKT T1 twice in the MSI and Worlds Semifinals. Because of this defeat, Khan, Clid, and Mata left SKT T1 at the end of 2019.

Because of such a history of confrontation, every time G2 Esports appears, T1 or Faker are mentioned. Specifically, during an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session of G2 Jankos and Caps on Reddit recently, a very remarkable question appeared that was comparing the current T1 and Super Team SKT T1 2019. Answer to the question With this extremely difficult question, Jankos and Caps both think that T1 2022’s lineup is stronger than the previous Super Team version.

Jankos confirms that T1 is now much stronger than SKT T1 2019

Q: Do you think T1 2022 is stronger than SKT T1 2019?

G2 Jankos: Obviously stronger, T1 now has a lot of extremely talented young gamers with open development potential. I can’t wait to see how they use that talent.

G2 Caps: It’s hard to compare, but I think the LoL meta suits Faker better now than it did in 2019. Therefore, Faker as well as T1 played much better.

Indeed, if we look back at 2019, we can see that Faker partly failed to follow the somewhat chaotic and “crazy” meta that G2 Esports created. Korean teams, especially SKT T1, have always emphasized control and rigor in the deployment of the squad. However, G2 Esports at that time made good use of high-mutant cards like Qiyana, Pyke or Sylas to break this and defeat SKT T1 not once but twice.

G2’s Pyke is a nightmare in 2019

However, at the moment, those champions are no longer in the meta. T1’s ability to control the map is still at an advanced level, the difference compared to 2019 is that their squad is full of young players. Names like Keria, Gumayusi… are ready to fight “big hands” with opponents without hesitation at all.

Of course, G2 Esports also has big changes in terms of personnel compared to 2019, especially in the two wings. G2 itself also sheds the image of a Super Team and gives faith in young names like Flakked or Targamas. Therefore, the match between the upcoming G2 and T1 at MSI 2022 becomes even more interesting and desirable when the veterans and “new ghosts” of the two sides confront each other.

G2 vs T1 will be an extremely watchable match at the upcoming MSI 2022
