Like T1, Gen.G shared a lot in the interview before the team’s departure to Worlds 2022 with the goal of winning.
Worlds 2022 is just a few days away from officially kicking off in Mexico in the warm-up phase and in the US the group stage. Teams around the world are also gradually completing their preparations to fly to the Americas and participate. The LCK area as usual will still have a launch ceremony for the teams to greet the audience before the representative attends the biggest League of Legends tournament on the planet. Earlier, we learned about the team that fans are most interested in, but now we will come to the team that is the flag of the LCK region at Worlds 2022 – Gen.G.
Before we start with personal questions, can you share your determination for this year’s Worlds?
Score: I am very hopeful we will produce great results. I will make sure that the team has the best performance and meets the fans’ expectations by becoming the number 1 seed of the LCK.
Lehends: I’m excited to be at Worlds after a great performance in the Summer. I guarantee to come back stronger after enjoying the fun and comfort of the break.
Youngjae: We’re a very good team, so as long as we keep this up, I believe we’ll do well.
Peanut: We really have a chance to go far in the league and I’ll make sure to work hard to do that.
Chovy: I hope to return to Korea after doing well at this year’s Worlds.
Doran: I’m back at Worlds after two years. This will be my chance to prove myself.
[Tới Lehends] What do you think about the popularity of supports with non-meta champions at Worlds?
Although buff supports have been nerfed, I think they are still very strong in the upcoming meta. I don’t think much has changed over the update, so I’m not too worried.
[Tới Chovy] A common trait in all power rankings at Worlds is that you are at the top of the rankings as the #1 mid laner. How can you improve yourself as a player? the best during Gen.G’s amazing journey this past Summer?
I’m glad that so many people are recognizing my achievements. Actions speak louder than words, so I really wanted to create a good reason to be considered the best player. It’s important to improve on an individual level at Worlds but I really hope to quickly improve on that as much as possible to produce great results at this year’s Worlds.
[Tới Ruler] This is your first time at Worlds as the No. 1 seed. Can you share your thoughts on this year’s Gen.G?
It’s great to receive the appreciation and expectations our fans have for us. And I think our group D is much better than the other teams.
[Tới mọi người] The championship ring is one of a kind. Can each of you share your thoughts on how you would feel if you achieved it?
Ruler: I really haven’t thought about that. I don’t play to get those rings, but I’m sure it would be fun to get them.
Chovy: Personally, I’m not a materialist, so I feel that winning the tournament with my teammates is more important than anything else.
Lehends: I never thought about that either. I just think of it as something that I get for being a world champion. That’s not what motivated me at Worlds.
Peanut: Personally, I like accessories, but at Worlds, I just want to perform well and win.
Doran: I have the same opinion as my teammates. I think winning Worlds will get a lot more benefits in the future than the rings.
[Tới Score] The last time you attended Worlds was actually through a broadcast in 2019. It’s been a while and you’re currently attending as the head coach of the LCK region’s #1 seed. How do you think about your journey since 2019?
The last time I went to Worlds as a player was in 2018. Like every professional player, Worlds is a tournament I’ve always wanted to attend. I feel that I’ve achieved one of my goals of going to Worlds as head coach, so not only am I excited to be there, but I’m also happy to help the team make it possible. play better.
[Tới Doran] Can you tell us more about the “benefits” of winning Worlds that you mentioned earlier?
Things like fame, money, and confidence are the three things that immediately pop into a champion’s mind, I think.
[Tới Score] You said that LPL teams would be GEN’s toughest opponents. What are some of Gen.G’s unique strengths at Worlds and what does the team need to improve on to face those tough opponents, especially in the Playoffs?
I think our players are highly skilled individually and their low form isn’t too low compared to the average. Regarding Gen.G’s weaknesses, I don’t think we have any obvious weaknesses.
[Tới Chovy] As a top talent attending this year, are you confident that you will win this year?
To have that certainty, I will need to practice more and be more confident, so it is still too early to talk about the championship. To say we are going to win can lead to complacency, so I will focus on doing the best I can in every game.
[Tới Peanut] What do you think of jungle Maokai, a champion buffed in the patches leading up to Worlds?
I think the changes Maokai received definitely pave the way for this champion in the jungle. However, in solo queue, I’ve only seen Maokai used in the top and support positions. I will need to test this champion more, but I predict that Maokai will not be used in the jungle at Worlds.
[Tới Score] When Gen.G’s 2022 roster was first announced, it sparked a lot of discussion in the community and became the LCK’s next Super Team. What direction did the coaching staff have in leading this Gen.G to success this year?
Each of our players are veterans, so I think we’ve improved by making the most of each one’s strengths and working through their weaknesses at the same time. Everyone played with different lineups in previous years, so I think we became stronger through the process of really figuring out how they played and combining all five of them. members into a strong group. As for the coaching staff, we all understand that so we all worked together to build the best bond.. That’s why we were able to perform well until now.
[Tới Ruler] What do you think about the possibility of seeing Lucian-Nami appear in this year’s Worlds arena?
I played both after the tweaks but I don’t think it’s good. I still need to practice more, but for now, I don’t think we’ll see this team in the bot lane together.
[Tới Score] What will help Gen.G win Worlds?
I think the tournament will actually start from the Playoffs. We will need to improve steadily from the previous point to really think about winning the championship. How we do it early will be critical to our success.

[Tới Doran] How have you improved yourself from the time you attended Worlds two years ago until now?
It’s been about two years since then and I feel like I’ve made progress in many things without realizing it. I think the most important thing must lie in his knowledge of the game and his mental calm. I predict this year will be different from previous years.
