The Icebox map is currently undergoing a near-complete remake, which will be released to Valorant players in Episode 4 soon.
The Icebox map was first introduced to Valorant players on October 13, 2020, at version 1.11. By version 1.14, the Icebox map was reworked after receiving many comments from the community that the map was relatively ‘hard’ to play. Over the course of many versions, up to now, it seems that Riot Games is planning to make a relatively large edit to Icebox in Valorant.
A few hours ago, ‘floxay’ (a Twitter account specializing in Valorant information mining) posted on his personal Twitter about the change of the Icebox map he found. Based on the information floxay recently found, the Icebox map will have a big change in the future.
Through the video, we will see that the Icebox map in Valorant will be changed relatively much in area B site, A site too, but not significantly.
Since the launch of Valorant players until now, A site apart from reducing the height of obstacles has not been modified any more times.
The first change is on the attacker side – A pipes. This area will be limited in moving space. The second change is on the defensive side, below A Rafter. The ledge will now be changed to a crate, giving defenders more cover.
The entrance to A screen from the defenders is now lower and Mid Boiler has been moved a bit to limit the area.
Icebox in Valorant will be changed the most in area B site.
The first change point is the Garage. The entrance to the inside of the Garage will have 2 more stacked crates and the exit will be moved to another location. This is a very important change, allowing the defenders to actively attack the Garage by surprise, and at the same time, the attackers have more hiding places to easily fight.
The next and perhaps the most important change in B site is B Yellow (or a barrel of gold). B Yellow will now no longer be diagonal but will be edited to horizontal, along with 2 small crates added. Before the change, the defenders were easy to detect when hiding behind the gold crate, now they will be more difficult to detect and be more proactive in resisting the attackers.
At the bomb site leading from B Hall, there was a lot of change here. The bomb area below will no longer be transparent with each other, but instead will have more hiding places, in addition, the area from mid to B site will have 2 more crates. This change minimizes both sides ‘drying up’ and still hitting, as well as minimizing collisions too early when the opponent goes from mid or B Hall to the B site.
In the B Back area, the hut is now impassable. This area previously could not be hidden if captured, but after being modified, it will create space for the faction occupying this area to easily fight.
In addition, there are some other small changes such as the wall in area B will be pushed higher to reduce the area of the B site, or as on the Kitchen, the vertical angle will be changed.
Previously, Valorant executive producer Anna Donlon shared that in the upcoming 4.02 version there will not be any new agents or maps, the current Valorant developers are focused on balancing the title. this game and Icebox is currently one of the maps being modified by Riot Games.
The changes to the current Icebox map are still in the process of being tweaked, Valorant development could still change more in the future before launch. Let’s wait with Game4v for changes in Valorant in the future.
