The “James Bond” film producers are currently discussing the next candidate to succeed Daniel Craig.
Discussions about whether Idris Elba could become the next 007 agent have been started and continued for years. And so far, when Daniel Craig has left the role, the discussion has become more heated than ever. According to the producers of this commercial series, Idris Elba is still the leading contender.
“Idris Elba is great. We really like him,” producer Barbara Broccoli shared.
However, the producers also admit that the actor’s age is a big problem if he becomes the next James Bond. At the moment, Idris Elba is 50 years old and he will probably be around 60 when he stops playing the role, which could be a big hurdle. Meanwhile, with Daniel Craig, the actor started taking on the role of 007 agent at the age of 30 and ended at the age of 54.
Moreover, the producers were also concerned that Idris Elba did not want this classic role. In fact, the actor once thought he was “too old”.
“The problem here is that the film is going to take a few years. When we cast James Bond, it’s going to be a 10-12 year contract. So maybe he’s going to be hesitant about this commitment,” the author said. The producer continued, “Not everyone wants a contract that long. With Daniel Craig, we also had a hard time persuading.”
At the moment, it is still quite unclear who will be able to become the next James Bond and whether Idris Elba still has a chance. Anyway, choosing a successor after Daniel Craig is also an extremely difficult choice, when the actor has been attached to this series for the past 15 years.
