Insomniac has hired an experienced Marvel Cinematic Universe concept artist as art director for Spider-Man 2.
Davison Carvalho was hired by Insomniac Games in February of this year. The artist has worked as a freelance concept artist on Marvel films such as Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok, and Captain Marvel. Regarding his work on Doctor Strange, Carvalho said: “I helped a lot in the early stages of developing the art of look and feel, as well as the environment for the Marvel movies. Had the opportunity to work for external agencies and collaborate with other great concept artists of the project.”
He has also worked on several popular titles, including Mortal Kombat X, Halo Infinite, Lone Echo, and Amazon’s Crucible. Grant Hollis and Gavin Goulden, chief designers of Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, are both working on Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine project, according to their LinkedIn profiles.
Developed by Insomniac Games, Spider-Man 2 will be exclusive to PS5 in 2023. Bill Rosemann, Marvel Games’ vice president of creative, described that “the game will include everything you love.” , will certainly be very promising to fans of Peter Parker and Miles Morales in the first 2 games.
“The game will have a lot of enemies that the player has to face. I would say there will be a lot of interesting storylines going from Marvel’s Spider-Man to Spider-Man Miles Morales,” he said last year. “I don’t want to reveal too much but it’s definitely going to be a blockbuster in terms of content, there’s a lot of themes, a lot of characters from the first two games that you’ll see appearing at the same time.”
Insomniac Games is also developing a Wolverine game for PS5. According to the developer, the game will be a completely independent, directed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, who previously played the main roles in the Spider-Man: Miles Morales project. “Although Marvel’s Wolverine is in early development, from what I’ve seen with its emotional story and enhanced gameplay, the team has created something really special compared to previous titles. ” said Ryan Schneider, head of projects at Insomniac.
