The GTA remake was supposed to be well received, but ultimately failed and this video shows what Grand Theft Auto 3 could look like.
Many will take it for granted that the GTA series is one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world. But before Grand Theft Auto 3 was released in 2001, the franchise revolved around simpler, albeit often controversial, stories. The third installment is easily considered one of the best open world games of the PS2 era and helped push things in the direction that fans know and love today. However, it’s been several decades since Rockstar released, so it will be interesting to see what the game will look like these days.
No wonder the YouTube channel TeaserPlay, discovered by DSO Gaming, has faithfully attempted to recreate Grand Theft Auto 3 in Unreal Engine 5. The trailer shows Liberty City in detail. much more and the character model for Claude is impressively upgraded. The purpose of the video, described as being to really show off the power of the UE5 and it does just that, with a much more modern picture and great lighting. Sadly, this was just a short build and no real remakes were made by the creative team.
It’s also not the first time TeaserPlay has reimagined one of the classic GTA games. They also recently showed off what Vice City might look like in Unreal Engine 5. The implication here is that, even though there were official remakes released last year, these videos demonstrate the possibilities. what could happen. Grand Theft Auto – Definitive Edition has become one of the worst launch releases in recent gaming history and while it looks to have improved to some extent, many fans feel that it can be much more than that.
Of course, TeaserPlay made this trailer using UE5. The engine itself is one of the most powerful and popular game development tools available today, with Unreal Engine 5 being used to create many upcoming titles, such as the new Witcher installment.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 currently in development, Rockstar is ready to take the franchise to the next level. But that doesn’t mean the classics should be forgotten. Perhaps one day there will be entire old titles remade by fans or the studio itself. But if there’s one thing to be said about TeaserPlay’s recent video, it’s definitely a call for this GTA division to return two decades later, especially given how much influence it’s had on the series.
