The Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Shibuya Incident arc is becoming more intense than ever. The story finally takes shape when the war between Gojo and the curses ends. Anime finally answering why Geto is still alive.
Even in the supernatural world Jujutsu Kaisen, resurrection is something miraculous and does not happen very often. Geto died in the past but was never resurrected. We learn that Kenjaku, an ancient curse user, has possessed Geto’s body. He is also capable of using his innate technique, Cursed Energy Control.
Gojo was completely caught off guard by this and paid a heavy price for it. Kenjaku’s plan succeeds when he seals Gojo inside the Prison Kingdom. Let’s dig deeper to find out when Gojo will be unsealed in the anime.
Will Gojo be unleashed in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2?
It will take some time for Gojo to be unsealed so he no longer has a role to play in Part 2. Gojo was sealed in Chapter 90 and only returned in Chapter 221 and soon started the fight with Sukuna. Gojo was sealed away in the Prison Realm for three years to the fans, but in the story it was only 20 days.
He does not appear in three parts: Itadori’s Destruction (7 Chapters), Perfect Preparation (15 Chapters) and The Killing Game (63 Chapters). Therefore, Gojo will most likely appear in Season 4, which is still too far away. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the usual pacing and episode count leave no room for Gojo’s return in Season 3.
85 Chapters from the above mentioned seasons are a bit too much to adapt in Season 3. Season 1 includes 63 Chapters in 24 episodes, while Season 2 includes 74 Chapters in 23 episodes. Even if MAPPA tries to adapt the 85 Chapters in Season 3 with additional episodes, the production process will take at least 3-4 years.
In 3-4 years, Season 4 will be released. By then, the manga will probably end. At least currently, the manga does not have material for Season 4. Therefore, it will be at least 6-8 years before Gojo is unsealed in anime Jujutsu Kaisen.
