Kaguya-sama: Love is War revolves around the strange romance that flourishes between the famous Kaguya Shinomiya, heir to one of Japan’s richest and most influential corporations, and Miyuki Shirogane, a workaholic. The over-successful job comes from a middle-class family. The two were elected vice president and student union president of the school, respectively. The soon-to-be couple develop a deep interest in each other, but their pride doesn’t allow them to admit it; instead, the two deny their mutual attraction as they engage in a series of increasingly complex mind games designed to get the other to confess their feelings first.
The series was created by manga artist and author Aka Akasaka and was first published in 2015. The series has sold over 4 million copies worldwide and received the prestigious Shogakukan Manga Award. The manga returned from a 4-month hiatus last October to begin its final story.
