Kōdai Matsuoka, star Masaki Nakao in the October show about indie manga creators of stars, the relationship of male idol stars
Kodoani.com – Asahi Broadcasting Corporation announced on Thursday that it is producing a live-action adaptation of the boylove manga. Kabe Sa Dōjin Sakka no Nekoyashiki-kun wa Shōnin Yokkyū o Kojiraseteiru will star Kōdai Matsuoka and Masaki Nakao, and will premiere in October.
Tatsunori Satō will be one of the show’s directors. Shinya Hokimoto is writing the script.
The series revolves around the relationship between manga author Kōniku-sensei (real name Mamoru Nekoyashiki) and famous male idol Issay (real name Issei Kazama). Nekoyashiki is popular during indie dōjin manga events, and he uses his popularity to satisfy a need for public approval. He meets his childhood friend Issei again at such an independent manga convention, after being apart for 5 years. The term “kabe sa” in the title stands for “kabe circle” – a slang term for independent manga groups or “circles” that are popular enough that their booths are placed next to the conference wall, for easy line management.
Minamoto launched the manga on Tokuma Shoten’s Comic Ryū website in 2020, and it’s still ongoing. Tokuma Shoten will publish the manga’s fourth compiled book volume on June 13.
