Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece Collection Coming to Nintendo Switch for the First Time

Why say Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece on Switch is a big deal for the series?

Kingdom Hearts is a very popular game series when launched on many different platforms. The series began with the PS2 first, then began releasing portable versions soon after, such as the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS, in which the spin-off plot games would act as is an appendix.

This also sets a new precedent for the future. The official versions will be released on the Console, while the sequels will only be released on handheld systems, but the versions will jump very quickly, at that time if you want to fully experience the game parts, was a very difficult thing. The handheld versions have finally become widely available thanks to the current release of the Kingdom Hearts collection on consoles and PCs.

Kingdom Hearts has gone to great lengths to stay present in every console generation since PS2. Seen the way most modern handhelds are made by Nintendo, Kingdom Hearts has spent a large part of its history on Nintendo hardware like the 3DS. Recently, the full Cloud Version of the Kingdom Hearts series was released on Switch as Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece. Even if this is not the ideal version, for Nintendo Switch fans, it is still not a small piece of good news.

History of Kingdom Hearts with Nintendo Console

Kingdom Hearts 1 launched on PS2 in 2002, and in 2004 Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories was released on the Game Boy Advance. Kingdom Hearts 2 returned to PS2 in 2005, and Re: Chain of Memories will end the series’ stint on PS2 in 2007. It all started after 5 years with Kingdom Hearts Coded and reception is scant right now. an episodic phone game that was only released in Japan. Then, in 2009, the development team began with the release of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, a Nintendo DS exclusive where players could control members of Organization XIII. This was quickly followed in 2010 by Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep on the PlayStation Portable, as well as a remake of Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded.

It all ended after Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance on the Nintendo 3DS in 2012. The seven years between it and Kingdom Hearts 3 in 2019 were filled with collections that ported every major Kingdom Hearts title to PlayStation and then Xbox, other platforms with the launch of the Kingdom Hearts Cross series on mobile. It took until a year after Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory released in 2020, the franchise really returned to the Nintendo system, and by that time, the last Kingdom Hearts games are out on all platforms. .

Kingdom Hearts is finally out on all platforms

The trend of Nintendo consoles getting exclusive Kingdom Hearts titles doesn’t need to continue, especially now that the series is entering a new era. It will be better for story-enhancing games to come to all new platforms. Square Enix seems to have reached the same conclusion after Dream Drop Distance, which is why it took 5 years for the entire Kingdom Hearts series to be remade on PS3 and PS4. With three collections brought together into one complete collection, Xbox and PC consoles finally have full versions. It is quite strange that the Switch is the system that is not released first, although there have been many versions released on Nintendo’s system in the past.

Now, cloud versions of all Kingdom Hearts games are remade and Kingdom Hearts 3 has also landed on Nintendo Switch. It’s a bit disappointing that these cloud versions are now not very well received, as many gamers have complained about them quite a lot. Hopefully the next Kingdom Hearts game will also be available on all platforms for easier access by fans. Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece is out now on Nintendo Switch.
