For Levi, the moment of competing at Worlds 2022 is the moment he and GAM have been waiting for the most after 3 years of missing an appointment with the international arena.
“If you shine here, you can shine everywhere else” – this is one of the New Yorkers’ catchphrases, and indeed on Saturday, GAM Esports had its own moments. they are here.
“GAM! GAM!” The crowd erupted at Madison Square Garden when the entire GAM Esports team bowed to say goodbye, as this was their last game at Worlds 2022.
Soon after, the captain Levi was brought in for an interview with Sjokz. One thing that hardly anyone could have imagined was that thousands of fans below started shouting and cheering loudly for the veteran jungler of GAM Esports.
“LE-VI! LE-VI! LE-VI! LE-VI!” but the cheers shook the hall as Levi bowed once more to the question “How are you feeling”.
Levi hesitated for a moment before saying the simple words, but the meaning went beyond words: “I feel so grateful, thank you for your support” – Levi replied with English – so the fans below can understand without translation.
For Levi, that moment must have been the moment that he and GAM had been waiting for the most, after 3 years of missing an appointment because of COVID.
Although GAM ended its journey in Worlds 2022, these moments have been a turning point in his career and great success for Levi.
“When I stepped on the stage, all the memories came flooding back. It’s been a long time since we had the opportunity to return to an arena this big, with such a large audience. It’s been so many years, but it’s finally worth the wait.”
From 2020 to 2021, Vietnam entered a period of strong lockdown because of the COVID-19 epidemic, and of course they missed the opportunity to compete in international tournaments. This fall, GAM had the right to go to MSI, but they chose to do national service and let Saigon Buffalo attend MSI. Maybe the only thing they need to do is keep moving forward.
“Every time we miss the chance to go international, people are disappointed and sad, but we have to move on. And now that we’re here (Worlds), it’s an important milestone for the team.”
Levi began to share a little about the time he spent abroad (North America and China) for a year and a half, after a boom period in 2017: “That period can be said to be unsuccessful at all, yes. Maybe the reason I have to return to Vietnam is to regain my confidence and be able to regain my form like in 2017”.
Indeed, having to adapt to a new environment (from culture to lifestyle, to language) is too difficult to adapt while still maintaining top performance. “I was always confident in my skills, but really, it took a long time to recover from my time in North America and China,” Levi admits.
It was GAM’s support that helped the player regain his confidence, and helped him perform better and better as a captain.

“I returned to GAM to be able to fully devote myself to being the captain of a team that always made me feel like the best player. It’s hard to find that feeling again, but GAM’s staff helped me adjust again, and now I’m proud to call myself Captain Levi.”
Levi saves the last thing I want to share, to describe how important GAM is to me:
“For me, GAM is my second home. There’s an indescribable cozy feeling, even when we don’t play well, I can always smile because I’m at home. I love this place.
Levi will continue to lead and accompany GAM in the following seasons, everyone is looking forward to a promising 2023.
