The actor won the “Asian Excellence Award” for his role in a horror TV series
Kodoani.com – Actor Yuya Yagira received the Asian Excellence Award at the Asian Content Awards & Global OTT Awards in Busan, South Korea, on Sunday for his outstanding role in the series live-action film adapted from horror manga “Gannibal” by Masaaki Ninomiya.
The live-action film “Gannibal” premiered in December 2022 and consists of seven episodes. It is streamed on Disney+ and Hulu worldwide. This is one of the domestically produced series that Disney+ Japan recorded as the most watched based on the number of hours broadcast.
The project has been so well-received that there is a second season in production with the returning cast and production team.
The “Gannibal” manga series has been licensed by publisher Ablaze and is scheduled to release the first volume in North America in November, with the second volume in February 2024.
“Gannibal” is about Daigo Agawa, a resident police officer, assigned to a remote village named Kuge. At first, he was warmly welcomed by the villagers, but after the suspicious death of an old woman, he began to realize that something strange was happening in the village and suspected that the people were cannibals.
Manga “Gannibal” was originally published in Nihonbungeisha’s Weekly Manga Goraku magazine in October 2018 and ended in November 2021, with the 13th and final volume debuting in February 2022.
