Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell play the same character across generations in 10-episode Apple TV+ series
Apple TV+ announced on Thursday that a new Legendary Entertainment series called “Godzilla and the Titans” is titled “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” and will premiere on the service with 10 episodes this fall.
In this series, Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell will both play military officer Lee Shaw across generations. Mari Yamamoto will also star in the film.
The series’ story takes place after the events of the 2014 movie “Godzilla.” Anna Sawai will play Cate, a former teacher and “G-Day” survivor. Ren Watabe plays Kentaro, an intelligent, creative and inquisitive young man who has yet to find his own path. Kiersey Clemons will play May, a foreign American with a mysterious appearance. Joe Tippett takes on the role of Tim, a man who works with drones and dreams of secret spy adventures. Elisa Lasowski plays Duvall, a seasoned agent with unwavering confidence in herself and her skills. Anders Holm also had a recurring role in the film.
The series explores “the mythical legacy of a world in which monsters are real.” Variety described the show as focusing on “one family’s journey to uncover buried secrets and the legacy that links them to a secret organization called Monarch.”
Chris Black and Matt Fraction are co-creators, with Chris Black serving as host. Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell are executive producers at Safehouse Pictures, along with Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita from TOHO. Matt Shakman (director of the series “Wandavision”) will direct the first two episodes of the series.
In addition, the sequel to Warner Bros.’s “Godzilla vs. Kong” movie. and Legendary Entertainment titled “Godzilla x Kong: New Empire” is scheduled to premiere on March 15, 2024 with IMAX screenings on the release date.
