Tetsuji Tamayama reprises the sharpshooter from the 2014 live-action film on Amazon Prime
Kodoani.com – Actor Tetsuji Tamayama (who has participated in projects such as Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger, Casshern, NANA, Ajin: Demi-Human) will take on the role of sniper Daisuke Jigen in live-action Jigen Daisuke from the manga Lupine III. The film is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 13. Amazon Studio and animation studio TMS Entertainment – the producer of many animated films about the character Lupine III – are responsible for producing the action film this, and the story will be about the character Daisuke Jigen, who is cold, loyal and melancholic in Monkey Punch’s manga.
In the new film’s story, Jigen feels something is wrong with his trusty Combat Magnum. So he decides to go to Japan for the first time in many years in search of the world’s greatest gunsmith (who happens to run a watch shop).
The film’s script is written by Yoshimasa Akamatsu (who has participated in writing scripts for projects such as BD ~Akechi Tantei Jimusho, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows), and Hajime Hashimoto will direct the film.
Notably, this is not the first time Tamayama has taken on the role of Jigen. He played Jigen in the 2014 live-action film Lupine III. Tamayama commented that he watched the 2014 animated film Lupine the IIIrd: Jigen’s Gravestone, which he said had an edgy atmosphere, more adult than previous Lupine anime projects. He hopes to bring some of this excitement to the new live-action film.
