Kodoani.com – TV Tokyo has revealed information about the premiere and two new actors for the live-action season 2 based on the manga “What Did You Eat Today?” by Fumi Yoshinaga. The premiere will take place on October 6. The new cast includes:
Ryōta Bandō will play Gō Tabuchi, an employee of the beauty salon where Kenji works. Aki Asakura will play Chinami Itsumi, Tabuchi’s girlfriend.
Previous cast members have returned, including Seiyō Uchino and Hidetoshi Nishijima as Kenji Yabuki and Shirō Kakei. Other actors also return in this installment.
The first season of the live-action “What Did You Eat Today?” premiered on TV Tokyo in 2019 and is streamed on Netflix in Japan. The series also received a TV special in 2020 and won the Outstanding Television Award at the 57th Galaxy Awards in 2020. A live-action sequel aired in 2021.
Manga “What Did You Eat Today?” by Fumi Yoshinaga tells the daily life of a middle-aged gay couple in Tokyo and how they enjoy great moments through food. The story follows them after stressful working days at law firms and hairdressers, as they cook together and discuss life.
Manga”What Did You Eat Today?” launched in Kodansha’s Morning magazine in 2007 and continues to publish. The manga has received numerous nominations and awards in the manga industry, and has been adapted into live-action and television series.
