Epic Games Store has brought gamers the ultimate mystery free game to wrap up the Epic Mega Sale event and that is Maneater.
For the past few weeks Epic Games Store has been giving away free mystery games week after week. Those are the major game releases including Borderlands 3 and BioShock Collection on the Epic Games Store. However, all good things must come to an end and the event announced the final mysterious free game.
The Epic Games Store has confirmed its final mystery game, Maneater, will be available for free between now and June 16, along with the end of the Epic Mega Sale event. This means that the Epic Games Store will return to its model of releasing small-scale free games over the next week. Next week’s free game Supraland will replace Maneater on June 16.
Maneater, exactly as the name implies, is a game where the player takes the role of a man-eating shark. However, it is quite interesting that the game incorporates RPG elements and the player can “age up” his shark and develop some new abilities. Maneater isn’t as big as BioShock Collection, but it’s a game that’s fun enough that gamers don’t want to miss it.
While a few of the former mystery free games were huge AAA titles, the endgame of mystery games suggests that the Epic Games Store will return to focusing on minigames and indie games. That may disappoint some, but it’s a good thing for the Epic Games Store because it helps gamers uncover many hidden gems that others might otherwise overlook. Of course, we still have no information on what Epic Games Store will have next. The company usually releases some free mystery games for the holidays, but which titles will be picked up and when the event will be held again is unknown.
While waiting for the next mysterious free game giveaway, gamers can pick up a bunch of other cool free minigames. Even if they aren’t large-scale AAA titles, they’re still gems worth checking out that gamers might overlook if they didn’t know they existed.
