Kodoani.com – This year’s 21st issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine revealed on Wednesday that the manga Arata: The Legend (Arata Kangatari) by Yuu Watase will be ported to Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry (Sunday Web Every) manga website starting with its next chapter, which will premiere on Sunday Webry on May 4.
Watase stated on Twitter that the reason for the transfer was because of her health. She stated with serialization on the Sunday Webry website, if things get difficult, she can stop the manga immediately and take a break. In contrast to magazines, stopping manga immediately can be troublesome for others.
The manga returned after a six-year hiatus in Weekly Shonen Sunday in May 2021. The manga resumed a hiatus in 2015.
Before the manga resumed last year, Watase resumed the manga in July 2015 (after the previous 17-month hiatus), only to have the manga go on hiatus a month later. A remake of the 15th volume was published on April 18.
Watase said on Twitter in December 2020 that she could solidify the rest of the plot for the manga.
Watase announced on Twitter in July 2019 that she is planning to start a new season of the manga in the 14th volume. Watase previously said that she is considering resuming the manga in 2018, adding at that time she was still recovering from depression.
The manga launched in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 2008.
In a mythical world where humans and gods coexist, Arata unfortunately has the honor of being the successor of the matriarchal Hime House. This means he must pretend to be a girl or face death if his true gender is discovered! On the day of his inauguration, an assassination plot forces him to flee – and somehow, Arata has arrived in modern Japan! Meanwhile, a boy named Arata Hinohara is sucked into the world of the first Arata and finds himself facing everyone after his life!
The manga was adapted into a 12-episode anime in 2013
