Manga creators will be able to attend the Steam Detectives anime screening on Saturday wearing goggles
Kodoani.com – Comic author Kia Asamiya shared on Twitter on Wednesday that his planned cataract surgery was successful and the author's vision was restored to 1.0, equivalent to 20/20 vision in the US . However, he will continue to observe and stabilize his condition over time.
The author also announced that he will attend a screening of the animated film Steam Detectives on Saturday, although he will have to wear safety glasses.
Asamiya thanked everyone for their support and apologized for not being able to respond to messages from fans and customers, but he read all the messages sent to him. Finally, he said he would relax a bit and run in “low gear”.
When Asamiya first opened up in February about having cataracts in his eyes, he said he was seeing double images. On April 29, he said his eyesight had decreased to the point that he could no longer count his fingers and could not read messages on LINE and Messenger.
Asamiya planned to launch a new manga titled Captain Symphonica on Takeshobo's Web Comic Gamma website in January, but the manga will likely begin later this month.
The story in Captain Symphonica revolves around the silver-winged spaceship “Blitzen” that protects the peace of the solar system using the sonic star weapon “Symphonica Waffe”.
Asamiya has ended his Speope! (Space Opera!!) with the simultaneous release of the seventh and eighth volumes on December 26. The manga launched in Shonengahosha's Young King Ours magazine in March 2019.
Asamiya's works include Silent Möbius, Steam Detectives, Compiler, and Junk: Record of the Last Hero, among other manga. He also provided character designs for the anime Martian Successor Nadesico and adapted the film Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace into a manga.
