Long-running manga series Golgo 13 cby Takao Saito broke the Guinness World Record for “most volumes published for a single manga series” on Monday when its 201st compiled book volume was published in Japan.
The manga has surpassed Osamu Akimoto’s manga Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo (‘ Kochikame’), which won the record with its 200th compiled book volume and finally shipped in September 2016.
Saito says he’s grateful for his readers.

The manga, which focuses on the famous legendary assassin, is the oldest manga series still in print. Saito launched the manga in Shogakukan’s Big Comic magazine in 1968.
