Kodoani.com – The Sendai branch of the Kikuya Shoten bookstore chain posted an image of the 44th book of Ken Kawasaki and Yū Furusawa manga volume Oi! Tonbo (Hey! Tonbo) on Friday. According to the wraparound on the image, the anime adaptation of the manga has been given the green light for 2024. The episode will release on Monday.
The story begins with Igarashi, who is disqualified from professional golf after some “incident” and thus moves to the Tokara Islands of Kagoshima Prefecture to step out of the limelight. On the islands dubbed “Japan’s last uncharted wilderness”, he meets an innocent girl named Tonbo.
As it turns out, these supposedly unexplored islands have a homemade golf course where Tonbo plays every day. She displays genius-level prowess, playing every stroke with a single golf club, 3-iron. Igarashi marvels at Tonbo’s talent, even as he doubts that she only uses it. 3. However, hidden deep in Tonbo’s heart is a painful, sad past….
Story author Kawasaki and illustrator Furusawa launched the manga in Weekly Gold Digest, a golf magazine of mutual interest by Golf Digest Sha Co., Ltd., in August 2014.
