Among the potential locations to become the arena of Marvel Rivals, there is an iconic location that is extremely suitable for Marvel fans.
In a recent update, Marvel Rivals revealed the Yggsgard map, a map combining Asgard and Yggdrasil, created by the Timestream Entanglement event whose culprit is none other than Loki. Based on what Marvel Rivals has introduced, there is a prominent location in the Marvel universe that is very suitable to be included as a game map. That is Wakandaespecially since Black Panther appeared in artwork used to promote the game.
The Wakanda map almost certainly appears in Marvel Rivals
Of all the locations in the Marvel universe that could be turned into maps for Marvel Rivals, Wakanda has the most potential in terms of gameplay. Fans Black Panther are certainly familiar with Wakanda, a fictional African country that possesses advanced technology on Earth thanks to Vibranium mining.
As Wakanda decides to hide its Vibranium reserves from the rest of the world, the difference between the realistic, futuristic aesthetic and the look the country presents could make for a unique map design .
A map about Wakanda not only relevant in the context of Marvel Rivals, but it also has ideal inspiration from the Numbani map in Overwatch 2. Numbani is an African paradise city, where both humans and Omnics can live together peacefully. Since Marvel Rivals is heavily inspired by Overwatch 2, it wouldn't be surprising if a Wakanda map was implemented using the same formula as the Numbani map, with a few notable changes.
Hypothesis about the Wakanda map in Marvel Rivals
Since Wakanda is an entire country in the Marvel universe, a Marvel Rivals map based on it could narrow it down to one area. Among them, the capital city of Birnin Zana is the most obvious candidate. Similar to the Numbani map in Overwatch 2, Marvel Rivals' Wakanda map can have players traversing the routes of Birnin Zana, protecting a shipment. Vibranium, or even the Mind Stone guardian.
Another special feature is the map Wakanda may include sections beyond the invisible barrier, concealing the true form of Wakanda, and allowing the player to cross the barrier into Birnin Zana. This design will allow the game map to start with a rural landscape and African savanna, before taking players to the futuristic world of Birnin Zana.
Like the way the map Yggsgard in Marvel Rivals has combined elements of the two lands of Asgard and Yggdrasil, having a map of Wakanda that introduces two different parts of this country will create more emotions for players.
