In its latest patch, Marvel Snap adds an Artist Credits feature that allows players to see who illustrated their favorite character cards.
The latest Marvel Snap update benefits illustrators by adding artist credits on each card.
The new Artist Credits feature is the first item mentioned in the latest Marvel Snap patch notes. The artist’s name can be accessed by clicking the Variation Label above any card in the player’s collection. Now clicking on it will reveal the name of the illustrator or the illustrators behind the drawing and the amazing colors of the card. With this addition, the artists behind Thematic Variations like Pixel, Chibi, and Baby cards can be recognized by the game’s fan base.
The latest patch also reduces the strength of the two major 6-cost threats, Galactus and Leader. Each one loses a power, but additional changes are still being considered for the big-brained villain. The slight nerf for Leader leaked ahead of the official patch, which prompted Development Manager Ben Brode to add some clarification context on Twitter. The accompanying note says that the team is exploring further changes to the card to deal with its nasty effect. Brode has specified that this developer note should be interpreted as more changes coming soon. However, the team is still working on exactly what adjustments are needed to balance an extremely polarizing card.
On the other hand, some cards receive an extra point for their power. The lucky few that get a fixed boost are Hazmat, Black Cat, and Nakia. Groot and Drax also gain a bonus power to their base strength, but a power that has been removed from their When Unleash effects. So while their potential power remains unchanged, the developer hopes the reduced risk of playing these cards will encourage more players to add them to their deck.
This free card game pits two players against each other in a contest to see who can hit the most power-ups in two of three random locations. While fighting others with your favorite Marvel characters can be fun, some players are concerned that some of the opponents they encounter are Marvel Snap bots. In the game, they can be defined by seemingly bad choices that lead to a disadvantage for their side. Another easy way is the opponent’s username, which is often as simple as the name of someone like Billy, Josh, or Erica. Real players will often have complex names that are personalized and will not provide any personal information.
Marvel Snap is available for free with microtransactions on iOS, Android, and Microsoft Windows.
