Kojima initially thought the anime was the critically acclaimed Licorice Pizza movie
Kodoani.com – Author Metal Gear, Hideo Kojima posted on Twitter recently the story of how he discovered it by accident Lycoris Recoil and become an instant fan.
4話は何処だ! pic.twitter.com/0M46gDJpfV

While searching Amazon Prime for the multiple Academy Award-winning CODA film, Hideo Kojima stumbled across what he initially thought was a recent critically-acclaimed film, Licorice Pizza. However, on a second look, he discovered that it was not “Licorice Pizza” but “Licoris Recoil”. (“Licorice” and “Lycoris” are spelled identically in Japanese.) Kojima was taken aback when he read the description of a girl with a license to kill working at a cafe. “Is this typical of Japanese anime?” He thought to himself. But before he knew it, he had already watched all three episodes that were released later and eagerly awaited the fourth season.
ネトフリにもあったので、アマプラではなく、慣れたネトフリで「リコリス・リコイル」の4話を観る。4話を観た時の感想????

In fact, in a follow-up tweet, Kojima gave his thoughts on the fourth episode after watching it – an emoji by a pair of boxers – and mentioned that it reminded him that he hasn’t been to the aquarium in a long time. He also said that he will definitely watch the next episode. I think at this point, it’s safe to say that Kojima, like many of us, really enjoys this anime.
